The uncertainty is driving my insane! On the last episode "Cartman Finds Love", Cartman tells Nicole (and the whole basketball audience) that he loves Kyle and that they're together. I know they're not together so obviously Cartman made that part up, but what about him being in love with Kyle? Is it true or just another one of Cartman's schemes?? I've always thought that he was gay and had a crush on Kyle, it was my only insane way of explaining how he's always picking on him and wanting him to suck his balls so bad. Pleaseeeeee answer my question!!!

Hey! Are there any episodes that show Kenny without his orange hood on??
It's really hard to see a totally-unhooded, unobstructed Kenny McCormick in the show. But there are several episodes where you can see most of his face and it's pretty sweet. Check out "The Losing Edge" (905), "The Jeffersons" (807), "Margaritaville" (1303), "Pee" (1314), "Super Best Friends" (504) and "You're Getting Old" (1507, at Stan's birthday party). Keep your eye out for his signature blond mop of hair.
Most recently, you can also see a pretty amazing reveal of his face in "Broadway Bro Down" (1511). He standing in line for the diving board, all the way on the right!

Good question! I'm actually adding this to the Most Frequently Asked Questions tab, since we get it a lot. Also using this FAQ to answer the many questions about seeing the new episodes Uncensored:
NEW EPISODES ONLINE: We try to get the episode online as soon as possible after the show airs on the west coast (about 10:35PM PST on Wednesday nights). But it usually takes a little time for the site's cache to clear and for everything to be properly displayed. So if you live on the east coast, it will be there Thursday morning. West coasters, it should be available very, very late Wednesday night or very early Thursday morning.
UNCENSORED NEW EPISODES: As you probably noticed, the show on Wednesday night is censored (on air and on our site). The final, uncensored audio version is finished Thursday night. Again, it takes a while for the site's cache to clear, so usually the uncensored episodes should be available very late night on Thursday or early Friday morning.
Mr. FAQ guy, there are a couple of characters that appear to have more than one last name: Clyde, Token, etc. In "Quest For Ratings", Clyde's last name is Donnovan. But in the episode "Lice Capades", he's called Clyde Harris. Token's name recently is Token Black, but in the episode "Here Comes The Neighborhood," Token's family is called the Williams'. What are Clyde's and Token's REAL last names?

As you mentioned, last names (and even first names) get switched up a lot in South Park. To be perfectly honest, this name game is just a side effect of the way the episodes are made. When you're creating a show, start-to-finish in 6 days, most of the time goes into
getting the episode finished and on the air before the deadline. And when you've done that over 200 times, little details slip through the cracks. So Swanson becomes Valmer, and Williams becomes Black, and Mr. Garrison becomes a woman who becomes a lesbian who becomes a man again thanks to a penis mouse. It's all pretty simple.

During the scene in "Cripple Fight" wherein Cartman interrupts a church service, Kyle's parents, Sheila and Gerald, can be seen in the pews. However the church is obviously Christian (as evidenced by the crosses on the walls) but the Brofloskis are Jewish. Care to explain this?
We are officially adding this to the "Most Frequently Answered Questions" category, since it gets asked at least 30 times a week.
Gerald and Sheila are indeed in the church with the rest of the town. You can see them on the left side -- in fact, Gerald's still wearing his yarmulke. The animators put the Broflovskis in there as a little easter egg. Townspeople get hidden all the time in large crowd shots like that, even if it doesn't make sense. A perfect example is the crowd shot below from "Britney's New Look" (1202). Watch close, you'll see random characters from probably 50 other episodes in there, even some that are dead. It's pretty sweet.
Did Cartman's cat CHANGE SEX?? I mean, when Shelly brings her boyfriend over to Cartman's house in "Cat Orgy," it is a female. On the other hand, in "Major Boobage" it is a male cat. No Mr. kitty! that's a bad kitty!!!!
You're right about that, Cartman's cat has been shown swinging both ways. My guess is Mister Kitty is a hermaphrodite, just like Cartman's mom. Little bit of both worlds, with an extra side of cheese.

You're right on both accounts. Butters was indeed kissed by the newly-slutified home-school girl Rebecca in "Hooked on Monkey Phonics" (313), and we've gotten a bajillion emails about it. No, it's not a mistake, we're aware of it. And the explanation is simple -- What happens in the Bay of Pigs Memorial Dance stays in the Bay of Pigs Memorial Dance.
Besides if you really look at the clip Butters is the one being kissed in "Hooked on Monkey Phonics", but he stepped up to the plate in "Butters' Bottom Bitch" and became a man!

You are actually 100% right. That episode was a rarity in the voice acting world for us. We actually brought in some French speaking actors to do those lines. Same goes with those Somalian Pirates -- that wasn't Matt and Trey either. Those voice actors were Abdi Fatah Adawe, Dahir Ali, Abdullahi Prime, Sebastian Yu, and Julien Zeitouni.

FAQ guy, do you know if this website going to be switching to HTML5 or something anytime soon? That was dumb that the South Park app got rejected from the iPhone app store but they are not restricting the web (yet).
You got an iPad?? Is it winged or made of Cherokee hair? As of right now, we don't have any super-pressing plans to switch to HTML5. We've obviously talked about it and are aware that it would be sweet, but there's a ton of technical and web-security issues that need to be resolved first, and we are still busy with this current season. And yes, our iPhone app being rejected three times was totally mega-lame.
Mr. FAQ, South Park is the greatest show ever thought of. Matt and Trey are absolutely brilliant. I'm sure this question has been asked before but: How are you so knowledgeable about South Park?
Short answer: I watch a lot -- and I mean a lot -- of South Park. Like maybe a million Courics worth a week. Less-short answer: I work at SPS and am kept in a small dark room with toilet paper, cheesy poofs, and every South Park DVD ever made. Every few days I am taken for a walk, and then subsequently given your FAQs to answer. If I'm a good boy, they'll give me Snacky S'mores. I've been living like this for the last two years, and while I've lost touch with the outside world, I have become an absolute expert on everything South Park. You're welcome.
I noticed during the 200th episode that at the end, Mitch Conner and Cartman were talking to Mr. Garrison. Then the scene cut to the town of South Park looking at the gingers and Mr. Garrison was in the background. Later, after watching the episode again on South Park Studios, Mr. Garrison was edited out of that scene. Is it really that important to edit the main copy of the episode after it aired?
You noticed that, huh? Well, good catch. And yes, it was worth
editing out. The show gets made so quickly that sometimes a mistake like that slips trough the cracks.
If you're a South Park fan, you know we don't always catch these
mistakes. But if we notice it within a few hours after the episode airs, we try to fix it. And this time, that Garrison scene gets fixed. See...you just learned something today.
My friend will not stop insisting that South Park characters are round 3D characters and the rendering is what makes them look like contruction paper. The real question comes down to this: When a character turns their head, do you just turn the model's head in 3D space or do you have to call up a different cutout of their head from the side, like with real construction paper animation?
Sure hope you have money riding on this, because you're friend is soooooo wrong. The characters are not rounded 3D models at all, but flat, planes of 'digital' construction paper... read on if you want to hear the long winded explanation.
The first "South Park Style" short was a film Trey and Matt made, called "The Spirit of Christmas." It was made entirely of hand-cut construction paper and filmed under an animation camera stand by moving the construction paper every two frames to create the motion. For the last 14 years, we have worked very hard to mimic that style. The program we use now to animate the show is called Maya, which is super-powerful, industrial-strength 3D animation software. We just don't usually use any of it's amazing capabilities to animate the main characters. South Park is created using a technique called "replacement animation." For example, all the boys heads are flat pieces of 'digital' construction paper, we just swap out a front-facing head for a for a side-facing head when needed. Normally, the characters have 4 views: front, back, left and right. We mix these elements (heads, bodies, arms, feet, etc.) to make it look more complex than it really is.
Basically, we are creating a 2D world in 3D software. But, sometimes we go big, and use Maya for what it was originally intended and create something awesome like Mecha-Striesand 2010 (who is a fully rigged, traditional 3D model with IK and other bells and whistles) or a cheesed-out Kenny ride. It also gives the talented artists here at the show a chance to spread their wings when they can build something over-the-top and blend it into the South Park world.

There may be plenty of pissed off celebrities, but no, this "class-action lawsuit" premise is not based on any real life situation. Just a great way to get a lot of people back in the mix.

Nice catch. And yeah, that's more than a coincidence. Certainly someone with your SP knowledge knows that Stan's character is loosely based off of Trey (and Kyle's off of Matt).
Oh Mr. FAQ, I have a question that despirately needs to be answered. If we have a good show idea, how do we get it to Matt and Trey? I have a show idea involving the Board of Education being forced to change the "South Park Cows" to something else after some "Cows" find it offensive. This actually is a parody of what is happening right now at the University of North Dakota with their "Fighting Sioux" nickname... the board essentially deciding to retire the name after a few Sioux found it offensive, and not considering the opinions of a vast majority (maybe in the episode it could be the parents, where the kids don't really care?).
Well, two things. First, I hate to burst your bubble, but we don't take show ideas or suggestions from fans. (You have no idea how many people think they have the perfect idea for an episode, character, plot, joke, etc...) Thankfully for us all, Matt and Trey have this whole "show creation" thing under control -- and if you take a look back at the past 200 episodes, I think they're doing a pretty solid job.

Well, it'd be a close call. I think ManBearPig would take it, because he's a half man, half bear, and half pig -- which means he's 150% manimal. But Scuzzlebutt's Patrick Duffy leg is the wild card. If he starts quoting Step By Step, he could easily bore ManBearPig to death.

You mean this guy? You might be onto something...the Fort Collins players do look like a pretty even match for the South Park kids.
How come some of the videos are still censored and some aren't? I thought it was a release timing thing, but some of the older episodes are censored. I was just wondering what causes this and do all episodes eventually come to be uncensored?
Good question. A lot of the older episodes are censored because that's the audio that was attached to the Master copy of their video. And when we made clips for this website, we just cut them from those masters. As for the new episodes, they are only censored for the first 24 hours, because that's how the network airs the show. A few days after the episode premieres, we get the final audio mixes (uncensored) and we swap it out on the website.
In the episode "Sexual Healing," the guy who is talking to all the sex addicts (who is also writing all those things on the board), is he the Mayor of Imaginationland or does he just look like him???
He just looks like him, although I'll admit, the resemblance is uncanny. The Mayor of Imaginationland is a lot fatter, has a way sweeter mustache and a top hat.

Yep, there are several movie references in "Medicinal Fried Chicken." The most notable one is Cartman's story, which is a nice big parody of Scarface. There's also a little bit of 1991's "New Jack City" in there.

Best nutsack hopping tune ever?? We think so. It's a song called "Chicken on the Rocks" by Jean Jacques Perrey. It was also used in the old-school "Bing Bang Boing" commercials from the 70s, which makes this whole thing even funnier.

April Stewart currently does the voice of Sharon. And I think Sharon's down-to-earthiness is the coping mechanism she uses to to deal with all the craziness of South Park.

Hey, thanks for reading my question. How do you all do the voice for Kenny? I understand that for everyone else, you spend hours creating the perfect voice for a character, but how did you make Kenny sound so muffled?
This has been answered before, but it's a popular question so here you go: To get Kenny's signature sound, Matt puts a tissue in his hand and speaks into it while recording. As we mentioned recently in FAQs, Kenny usually has written lines of dialogue (especially in the new episodes), so Matt's actually reading real lines. So If you listen REALLY hard, you might be able to make out most of what Kenny says.

That episode was a doozy...it happened in "The China Probrem" (1208) and we all know his poor friend.
What if a girl cheesed? Would Boobland, Major Boobage, and the Breastiary stay the same?
