After three, super-sweet days at Comic-Con, we here at South Park are still wiping the butterscotch pudding off of our arms and telling our many Ultimate Fan stories. Friday's BIG announcement during the late night Q-and-A's -- that "South Park" had been officially renewed through 2013! -- really set the stage for an epic Saturday...
The excitement and mayhem was in full force as thousands of cheesed-out fans poured in for their last day of South Park goodness. We cranked up the karaoke, unleashed uber-pwnage in the Trivia competition, and gave away our final packs of Comic-Con-exclusive Cheesy Poofs.
The biggest event, on this most-epic last day, was the Ultimate Fan Costume Contest. An elite crop of 18 finalists, dressed head-to-toe in their podunk-mountain-town finest strutted their stuff, for fan votes and glory! And before we let the crowd decide the winner, we announced the grand prize: Limited-edition, Comic-Con-exclusive Kid Robot figures, autographed by Matt and Trey.
It was on. It looked like a Battle in the Breastriary as the costumed fans tried their best to win over the crowd. Competitors mustered up their best South Park impersonations, a dance-off ensued, and more than a few contestants got served. Kenny died repeatedly. In the end, the crowd crowned their favorites:
- 1st Place: Towelie (winner of signed Mysterion and KidRobot figures) - 2nd Place: Professor Chaos (winner of a signed Mysterion) - 3rd Place: Dead Kenny (winner of a signed Dead Kenny)
It was an amazing weekend! Fans rocked South Park temporary tattoos and gobbled up free snow-cones. They raced Big Wheels and printed out their very own South Park alter-egos at the Avatar Station to take home. And for the first time ever, fans marveled at never-before-seen cells and construction paper cut-outs from the 1997 pilot, displayed side-by-side with amazing fan art.
Even as we shut the doors down on Saturday night, fans still stood outside taking pictures and admiring how kick ass the life-sized South Park looked.
More than 40,000 fans took the opportunity to come on down to South Park. Some fans came all three days, others only for a few minutes. Some won huge prizes, others wound up with Mitch Conner on their hands. But every bit of it was as sweet as a fried chicken sundae.
We've been calling this the Year of the Fan since January, but this event actually made it a reality. Thousands came through and show their love, dress up, and braved the San Diego sun to hang-out and participate. So we thank you, fans, for TRULY making this the Ultimate Fan Experience!!
Maybe we will see YOU next year at Comic-Con! Until then, stayed tuned for more Year of the Fan announcements, and best of all, all-new episodes October 5!
Howdy Ho from Comicon! It's our last day here at the Ultimate Fan Experience and we're gonna make this the best day yet!
Last night, hundreds of fans gathered to witness South Park history as we screened the full-length, unaired "Pilot" episode right in the middle of our 15,000 square foot parking lot. It was followed by a mind-blowing, myth-dispelling Q & A with Producer Eric Stough and Creative Director Chris Brion. We capped off the whole evening with the feature-film "South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut."
It was an amazing night, but that excitement carries right into today's kick-ass shennanigans. We've got giveaways, trivia, karaoke and we're finishing it all off in proper Year of the Fan fashion, with a huge South Park Costume Contest at 4 pm!
It's our last day here at Comic-Con, so make sure to come on down! We're at 1st and J Street in downtown San Diego. It's free, no Comic-Con passes required!
And while you're getting that super-sweet outfit ready for the Costume Contest, check out these pics from last night's screening!
Today, we rocked Comic-Con harder than a Faith +1 concert. All day long, a steady stream of over 10,000 fans filled our not-so-quiet mountain "town" to truly make this the ULTIMATE South Park Fan Experience.
The costumes were epic, the energy was amazing, and the Center Stage was buzzing with activity:
South Park Karaoke brought the house down -- with fan renditions of "Fingerbang" and "Kyle's Mom's A Bitch" grabbing huge applause. The Art Gallery was jam-packed, super-fans faced off in a heated SP Trivia match, and even better, the free Cheesy Poofs were flying!
But our most-anticpated event is just getting underway...the screening of the original, unaired pilot of "South Park"! And if that wasn't enough, we're following that up with a Q & A with South Park production staff -- then screening the full feature-film "South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut."
Tomorrow (Saturday) is the LAST DAY of the Ultimate Fan Experience, so make sure to come on down! We're located at 1st and J Street in Downtown San Diego. And don't forget, this event is TOTALLY FREE -- no Comicon passes required!
In the meantime, check out these kick-ass photos from today!
Over 7,000 people stopped by yesterday to our epic Ultimate Fan Experience in downtown San Diego. South Park fans were out in full force -- people rocked costumes, snagged painted "tattoos", and raced Big Wheels like a bunch of cheesed-out manatees.
And with the doors open for Day 2, we're not only ready to do it all over again -- we're ready to do it bigger, longer, and uncut!!
The Karaoke stage is geared up and ready to be melted with fan-fueled rock. "Gay Fish", "Montage", "Kyle's Mom's A Bitch" and a lot more songs are all ready for fans to pick out and bring their Poker Face.
Fans joined into teams to pwn eachother with their epic knowledge of South Park Trivia -- and today, we're gonna see who has the chicken-fried balls to take the top Trivia prizes!
And TONIGHT ONLY, we'll be screening the full-length, unaired "Pilot" episode of South Park, followed by a Q & A with members of the production staff who actually WORKED on the pilot! After they answer your questions and talk about the show-making process, we'll be capping the night off with a screening of the feature film "Bigger, Longer, and Uncut!"
We're also giving away Cheesy Poofs, South Park snow-cones, and 2 "Book of Mormon" tickets every day. Check out the schedule of events right here to find out when all this great stuff is taking place.
Don't forget, this event is TOTALLY FREE -- no Comic-Con passes required! So come join us at 1st and Jay Street in Downtown San Diego. Hope to see you all here!
Starting at 10pm last night, dozens of trucks and 100s of crew members worked through the night to get this amazing experience up and running. South Park Avenue needed to be constructed, the Center Stage had to be built, and all the interactive booths needed to get crackin'.
It took all night, but there's now 15,000 square feet of South Park awesomeness for EVERY fan in San Diego!
The art gallery is open, karaoke is jamming, and we're just about to give away some Cheesy Poofs for the very first time ever -- so come on down to South Park!
We're located at 1st and J Street in downtown San Diego. It's FREE, no passes needed!
